I Confess; I know New York City better than I know my hometown of Bridgeport. In fact I know New York State better than I know my own. At times whenever I come back to my home town to visit, take some time off from my ventures or visit family I feel like a bit of a tourist because there are so many changes that has taken place while I was away. My nieces, nephews, cousins and other relatives that I still can't comperhend are relatives are growing fast as weeds (When you're talking to your 13 year old neice about boys and strange friends that's when it hit me that I'm not 25 any more.),familiar store, landmarks, and buildings had up graded to fit with today times. New and more jobs, places that were once there are no longer there, security gaurds at Housatonic Community College riding segways, new and strange looking taxi cabs and buisness cars pass up and down on the still dingy streets, and a bit of energy is somewhat around although Bridgeport continues to work itself as a small town than a city. Bridgeport is cleaning itself up by (trying to)keeping the streets clean, bringing in artists to cover the ugly boards covering forclosed buildings with art and other pretty colors, and so on. Although there are STILL twice as many forclosed homes/buisnesses, pot holes are still around, and shrub. Lots, and lots of shurbs, oaks, and torso high weed portruding in and out of the empty park lots. All in all; no matter how much shinies and glitz that you put on a armpit of a city, it's still a shitty city. It still is gritty, however I have to admire a city that's trying to be something magnificent when in fact Bridgport is STILL shitty. Bridgeport, CT - home of the Subway franchises, the creator of the comic strip Pogo, Barnum, and harboring terrorists since BPT is only 45 minutes away from New York City. Damn the infidels. Bridgeport is STILL a shitty city but it's my shitty city. I was going to go to San Fransisco, but I decided to give myself a break. Stay at my cousin's house for a while until I figure out my next move. There's no easy explination only I need a fiscal plan on financing more of my travels. In the meantime - I'm back on Craigslist job hunting. BLAH.
